This year’s “Dash for Compassion” event is a 5k run that will benefit the Matt Talbot Kitchen. The event is planned and hosted by the Union College PA Students .
The race will take place at Pioneers Park on September 27, 2015 at 9:00 a.m with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.
The “Dash for Compassion” run is an annual event, which was created about 2 years ago by Anne Mullin, an Union College PA Program Alumni. The idea came to her while attending an annual physician assistant conference in Washington, D.C. ” We got the idea from another PA student who we met at the conference, ” Mullin said. “Her program does a 5k fundraiser every year to raise funds for a free clinic in their community, and we immediately thought of the free clinic at People’s City Mission here in Lincoln.”
Union College PA students are encouraged to get involved in the community through service beyond the “Foot Clinic” and Union’s yearly “Project Impact”. Helping people and showing compassion like Christ did, is called responsible servanthood and is one of the PA Program goals.
Though the first “Dash for Compassion” run took place at Holmes Lake Park on October 6, 2013 to raise funds for the free clinic at People’s City Mission, this years 5k run will be held at Pioneers Park to benefit the Matt Talbot Kitchen, who provides free meals for the homeless in Lincoln.
Everyone who registers for this event will receive a t-shirt and also be entered into a drawing for prizes from local organizations.
Support your community, show compassion, and participate in this event.
