“To me, the most appealing thing about business is the ability to see the change you are creating,” said Alex Ehms, Union College’s new assistant professor of business. “I think that business can be very exciting, and I like to be a part of the growth process.”
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Ehms has a master’s degree in supply chain and operations management and a doctorate in organizational behavior and human resources. With a professional background in analytics and marketing, he has worked for a multinational law firm and a Fortune 500 Insurance company. Before coming to Union, he taught at the University of Buffalo School of Management. He said, “I like to have variety. I am excited about the opportunity to teach multiple things and draw from my analytics and marketing background, as well as my experience with organizational leadership training.”
Ehms enjoys kayaking in his free time. He said, “I’m very excited to take advantage of the fitness center here. I also enjoy playing music on the guitar and piano.”
“There are numerous reports of unethical behavior happening in corporate America,” said Ehms. “I am motivated by the idea of encouraging students to go out and be game changers. These are the leaders of tomorrow; the individuals who will someday be working in prestigious positions where they will have an opportunity to create change and do things in a more ethical way. My hope is to instill those values, and I think that Union College is a wonderful place to do that.”
